The village itself
Addiction counselling and therapy in Borough Green
I am not a therapist who covers Borough Green from somewhere else. The room is here, on Wrotham Road, a couple of minutes' walk from the Square.
Getting here from Borough Green
Unit 3, The Chaplin, 6 Wrotham Road sits on the Wrotham Road side of the village, a couple of minutes' walk from the shops on the Square and from the station.
There is free parking on site — which, if you are coming for something you would rather not advertise, matters more than it sounds. There is no shared waiting area and appointments are spaced so you are not passing anyone on the way out. For a village this size, that is not a small consideration and I have designed round it deliberately.
If you would rather not have your car outside at all, Borough Green & Wrotham station is a short walk away, and much of the village is within ten minutes on foot.
Who I see from Borough Green
People who live here, mostly — and the pattern is unsurprising for a commuter village. A lot of the work involves drinking that started as a way of decompressing after the London train and has quietly stopped being optional. A lot involves anxiety in people who function well and have told nobody. And a fair amount involves the specific isolation of doing well in a small place where everyone knows your face.
That last point is the reason the practicalities above are written out in such detail. In a village of a few thousand people, the fear of being seen is not paranoia — it is a reasonable thing to plan around, and I have.
Why there is nobody else doing this here
If you have already searched for a therapist in Borough Green, you will have noticed that the results are mostly directories listing people in Sevenoaks, and encyclopedia entries about the village. The nearest specialist addiction counsellors are in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge or considerably further east.
That gap is why this practice is here. Addiction work in particular is badly served by a forty-minute drive each way at the end of a working day — it is one more reason not to go, and people take it.
A note on discretion. If you know me, or think you might, or would simply rather not risk it — say so on the phone. I would far rather refer you to a good therapist in Sevenoaks or Maidstone than have you not get help at all. That is a normal conversation, not an awkward one.
