Counselling for Ightham

A few minutes along the A25, with parking at the door.

Getting here from Ightham

Ightham sits just west of Borough Green on the A25, and the drive takes about four or five minutes. From Ightham Common, Oldbury or the lanes towards Ightham Mote, allow ten.

Free parking on site — worth knowing, because parking in Ightham itself is not straightforward and people assume anywhere nearby will be the same.

Who I see from Ightham

Ightham is a small village, well under two thousand people, which brings a specific difficulty with it: privacy. In a place that size, being seen going into a counselling service in your own village is a genuine deterrent, and people put off getting help for years because of it.

Borough Green is close enough to be convenient and just far enough to be anonymous. That combination is a large part of why people from the smaller villages round here come to me rather than to something closer to home.

The village-privacy problem

I raise this on several of these pages because it comes up in almost every first phone call from the villages. People are not primarily worried about the therapy. They are worried about who might see the car.

So: free on-site parking rather than a village street, a private entrance, no shared waiting area, and appointment times spaced so that clients do not cross on the way in and out. If that is still not enough — and for some people it reasonably is not — online sessions solve it entirely.

What I work with

The approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, supported by CBT where a specific belief or behavioural loop needs breaking.
